    Why Acorn Christmas Ornaments?

I'm a curious person, and I got to wondering just *why* we see acorns used as Christmas tree ornaments! Here's what I found out, courtesy of Taste of Home's article on the "Secret Meanings Behind Classic Crochet Ornaments":

"Did you know the oak tree is the national tree of Germany? The oak tree was sacred to ancient Germans, representing strength and good luck. Many early German Christmas trees were adorned with acorn ornaments to symbolize the little acorn becoming the mighty oak. Put one on your Christmas tree for a lucky year..."

So a crocheted Acorn Ornament symbolizes good luck, new beginnings, the gift of life, and good fortune - something we all could use more of in the new year!

The Perfect Project for Bernat Maker Minis!

When something takes only 10 yards of yarn or less to make, you should turn to your yarn odds and ends to see what you can use up! Any pattern like the Crochet Acorn Ornament is automatically a fantastic stash buster - and it's fun to see how it looks in different yarns!
